Thirteen years ago this morning we headed to the hospital in anticipation of my first niece, the first grandchild and great-grandchild, the first of the next generation. That little baby girl that was birthed lo those many years ago has today become a teenager. (Though she promises she won't be one of the bratty, non-communicative ones. Let's hope so!)
We surprised Bailey this morning with an early-morning rendition of Happy Birthday, followed by her favorite coffeecake (Federico's), bacon & eggs. And of course presents, which were what every teenage girl longs for--clothes, shoes and money for clothes & shoes.
