Apparently people actually use cheesy lines that I thought were only said in movies. Witness one email I received today from a guy on M*tch:
"do you think that i can talk to the angels ?
To You ....can i ?...........{insert name + winking smiley}"
Should I even respond? Doesn't something like this disqualify him completely? I'm tempted to say it does...

Disqualified! For sure! It's a funny story that you can tell now, but I don't think that it deserves a response at all. But then again, a guy once asked me if I hadn't dated much because my standards were too high so maybe I'm not the best person to be giving you advice.
i for sure think he is out. if he doesnt' have anything more creative and appropriate to say than that, i think that makes him a total looser.
Um yeah...I don't think I'd ever be able to look at him w/ a straight face if it did work out. Sorry dude, no one wants to hear that crap these days (if they ever did).
Does he know you are a grad student?
