Swoon!

Last night I experienced what may be my new 'best concert ever'.Swoon!

Last night I experienced what may be my new 'best concert ever'.Thirteen years ago this morning we headed to the hospital in anticipation of my first niece, the first grandchild and great-grandchild, the first of the next generation. That little baby girl that was birthed lo those many years ago has today become a teenager. (Though she promises she won't be one of the bratty, non-communicative ones. Let's hope so!)

As a budding photographer (hobbyist) I can get discouraged when I see professional photographers' work. The lighting and color is just right, there is always the perfect depth of field and composition and angle. Man how I wish I could shoot like they do!
And then I'm reminded that they rarely get that perfect shot without a little help from Adobe...
Check out Glenn Feron's The Art of Retouching. Click on an individual photo and then pass your cursor over it to see what the the image looked like straight out of the camera. Or visit Sugar Digital's "retouching" tab and click the before & after shots. Ok, I don't feel so bad now.

A special birthday wish for my sister on this, her 33rd birthday!
Love you, sis!

It has recently come to my attention that there are people out there who check my blog that never actually read the comments that people write in reply to my post. What the ... ?!
I'm shocked to hear this because on nearly all the blogs I check, I read the comments. Sometimes they are variations of the same comment, ("So cute!" "My how they've grown!" "You really did create the most adorable child in all the universe!") but many times they are downright entertaining and contribute that much more to the post itself. Not that the original blog author isn't funny enough, but you just never know what wacky and/or witty thing someone else will say. It's great fun, I promise.
Reading the comments to Sarah's guest-blogger Tims' post gave me yet another reason why you should read comments:
Stuff Christians Like
HIL-AR-I-OUS. Like, laugh-out-loud, chuckle from deep down in your belly at the cringe-worthy truth of what's written, hilarious.
So, thank you commenter-James, for your contribution to my life and our online community.
Now go read comments! And if you aren't already, start commenting yourself. You just never know when your comment will make someone's work day pass that much faster. (Not that I'm checking blogs at work Boss/Dad...)

This recipe for Spinach & Brie Chicken with Tomato Orzo from Martha's Everyday Food recipe collection, looks & sounds absolutely delicious. And fairly healthy, to boot!
I may have to pick up a few things to make this later this week. It's lunchtime, I'm hungry.
I consider myself unusually lucky to have so many great guys in my life that I count as friends. One of these. Dave, was celebrated with a birthday brunch on Sunday. The food, compliments of Rama, was delicious and the company great.
With a Mexican Fiesta themed party complete with street tacos and margaritas, my friend Jodi rang in another birthday yesterday down in Redondo Beach. Esther, Scott and many others gathered to celebrate the birthday girl and her two friends in the 3rd annual Triple Birthday Bonanza.
